Review: ModelCo Cheek and Lip Tint

I’m so happy that Glossybox’s March 2013 box came with the ModelCo’s Cheek and Lip Tint. It’s now part of my everyday makeup kit because of its quick delivery of rosy color to my cheeks.

DESCRIPTION: ModelCo CHEEK & LIPS is a lightweight, dual purpose cheek and lip tint that delivers an instant and natural rosy glow to suit any skin tone. The gel formulation glides on smoothly, leaving the perfect amount of sheer colour for naturally flushed cheeks and a lightly stained lip.

CHEEK & LIPS is a smart must-have essential for any beauty bag, delivering playfully appealing colour that last for hours. The sheer formulation provides an instant splash of colour for a super long-lasting, no-mess finish. Use CHEEK & LIPS to create a subtle wash of colour or layer for a deeper, more intense flush. Combine with SHINE Lip Gloss for a fuller lip.

Why I need this product:

  • Smooth application for long-lasting rosy glow
  • Lightweight, transparent formula
  • Natural, flushed look that is long lasting

The formula is indeed gel-like, and when you squeeze it out of the tube and onto your fingertip, it looks a really, really dark red. Warning: this is extremely pigmented and spreadable, so you just need a tiny amount at the start, smaller than pea-sized.

I apply it by squeezing a pinhead-sized amount on one fingertip, then dividing that amount by tapping on it with the opposite fingertip, then quickly applying it on the apples of my cheeks. The operating word is quickly – you need to work fast as it dries almost on contact! I find that by applying the gel tint at the same time, then there’s less chances of having unevenly colored cheeks – and it saves time, too.

Make sure to blend it out too so that you don’t end up with clownish, clearly delineated red circles on your cheeks. And don’t be surprised if your fingertips get stained, too, but soap and water will remove it.

Once applied, it leaves a sheer, sort of glowy finish if you apply it on bare skin. I sometimes apply it over (instead of under) bb cream or powder which dials down the color payoff, so it’s a little bit more subtle. The color is a rose-red on my medium skin.

Other than the minor bother of having stained fingertips, I’m really loving this product, which I use whenever I’m too lazy to bring out the mineral blush and brush. I don’t use it as a lip product though, as the color doesn’t register on my lips.
